I can’t write this letting anger win, not on the first beautiful Dallas day we’ve had in weeks. Not on Women’s Day. It’s not a 3:30 service attached to it, but let’s praise the queens today. I’mgonna try my best to do it my way despite that derivative emotion lingering.
During the month of March, and the rest of your natural-born life, really, open your eyes to the black women around you and those in our history history as well. Take an interest in who she is, how she feels, what makes her operate and what she has overcome, and maybe you can be a part of the greatness that she is and the greatness that is waiting on her.
So if you know me you know I’m a reader, love reading articles and I always have a Cosmo on my night stand. I ran across an article called “My Life as a Sugar Baby” now I have heard the term and knew what it was but wasn’t clear so I kept reading. The article was about a 24 year old divorcee with two kids, a gay ex-husband and baby was broke! I thought to myself wow this sounds like me, I’m 24 only one kid and an ex, he’s not gay so not quite like me but you know, I found myself relating. She went on to say how she didn’t want another regular relationship or dating experience (in my head I’m like preach sister). As I started to read the next few lines I found myself a little wide eyed, “My first Sugar Daddy I ever had was from New York.”
Now we all have heard of the term Sugar Daddy, we probably know someone who has one, hell we’ve probably thought of finding one and quitting our jobs (maybe that one is just me HA)! But seriously, what was new to me was how legit Sugar Babies seemed to be. These women are professional Sugar Babies for RICH and I mean RICH Sugar Daddies. They get monthly allowances, have blogs, community chat rooms or forums and not to mention conferences and summits on how to be a Sugar Baby!
The first thought I had was what about her kids and her family, this lifestyle is clearly not a secret! My next thought may surprise you and will probably be a nonfeminist thing to say but I was like hey, she’s about the money, she’s young and seeing the world. Not only that but it’s honest, intentions are clear on both ends. Would I engage in such an arrangement probably NOT but can I knock another woman’s hustle… Hell no! All I can say is make that money girl don’t let it make you! GOOD People what do yall think about Sugar Babies?! Are you one (men that includes you), do you know one? Hit me up on Twitter @MsTaylorAlexis and let me know your thoughts!
